Culinary and Culture: Works for Sustainable Indonesia

Jakarta, 24 May 2019 - The taste of Sambal Lais is felt not only through the tongue, but also the eyes. Through illustration, Kathrinna Rakhmavika Putri or known on social media as @gambarnana, managed to make Sintang's signature chili paste (Sambal Lais) became more alive. The combination of fish, petai, and manga fruit colored her illustration. Kathrinna was one of the creators invited to collaborate with Lingkar Temu Kabupaten Lestari (LTKL) in promoting the potential of Sintang District in an event entitled "A Taste of Kalimantan: Exploration of Sintang District's Taste and Culture". "I am very happy to be acquainted and given the opportunity to collaborate with LTKL and Sintang District. Indonesia is cool and rich in potential. As a person the content creator contributes to Indonesia by introducing the richness and culinary diversity and culture of Indonesia, "Kathrinna said.

Taking place at Resto Kaum, Jakarta, 40 participants from among creators, influencers, and community representatives invited to ngabuburit by making works on canvas bags. The uniqueness of Dayak acid eggplant, Sengkubak leaves, a picture of a Betang Ensaid Panjang House to a picture of Kelam hill decorated the work of the participants. One of the most interesting works and the most drawn by the participants today was a picture of various ingredients from the forest which decorated the participants' tables since the beginning of the event. A combination of Asam Maram fruit, Sintang Cucumber, Asam Kandis, Dayak Sour Eggplant, and Sengkubak Leaves produced a work full of meaning with a distinctive touch of Sintang Regency.

In addition, the participants also received the inspiration of the uniqueness of Sintang through its distinctive cuisine which used ingredients from the forest. The melody from Sape Musical Instruments by the native musician of Sintang, Baby Borneo, managed to drown the participants in the natural atmosphere of Sintang.

Collaborating with the content creators, influencers and friends from the community was the first step to expand sustainable initiatives from LTKL. The influence of the participants in this digital era would be a gateway to raise the sustainable initiatives, an action from the district to improve the economy by preservating the nature.
